Each figure captures a moment of being-with-oneself. Stripping away clothing and context clues in a figure allows me to focus on the beauty and complexity of the human anatomy, and the subtlety of emotion that can be expressed through the body. It invites the viewer to identify with the figure without it being dressed up, done up, or abstracted. It is a celebration of the body as-is, not “as-it-should-be.” A snapshot of a moment in time. Our private moments of reflection, observation, and simple being often go overlooked and unappreciated. However each of these moments holds a life and universe within it –  holds the very essence of our existence. This existence straddles the line between the tangible and the intangible, and our bodies are the interface, the meeting place, the liminal container which allows us to walk in both worlds as time unfolds moment to moment.
